About the Patek Philippe 5531G-001
The Patek Philippe Minute Repeater World Time 5531G-001 combines a minute repeater with a world time display and is distinguished by a hand-crafted cloisonné Grand Feu enamel dial executed under the Rare Handcrafts programme.
The watch is housed in a white-gold case measuring 40.2 mm in diameter with a thickness of 11.49 mm. The caseband and slide piece are hand-guilloched with a hobnail pattern, and the lugs are skeletonised. The case is humidity- and dust-protected but not water-resistant. Interchangeable solid and sapphire crystal case backs are supplied.
The dial features a Grand Feu cloisonné enamel centre depicting a Belle Époque steamboat sailing on Lake Geneva. The dial plate is crafted in 18K gold, with a 24-hour ring encircling the enamel centre. Four gold spangles are positioned at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock. White-gold hands indicate the time, with skeletonised “Southern Cross” constellation-style hour hands and lozenge-shaped minute hands.
Powering the watch is the self-winding calibre R 27 HU. The movement measures 32 mm in diameter and 8.5 mm in thickness, comprises 452 components and 45 jewels, and operates at a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour (3 Hz). Winding is via an off-centre 22K gold guilloched mini-rotor. The movement incorporates a minute repeater striking on two classic gongs, a patented mechanism that ensures the repeater always strikes local time for the time zone displayed at 12 o’clock, and a world time display with 24-hour and day/night indication for all 24 time zones. The power reserve is specified between approximately 43 and 48 hours. The movement features a Gyromax balance, a Spiromax balance spring, and bears the Patek Philippe Seal.
